Vevo shares the top 10 Hip Hop artists and more.
While in quarantine, music visuals have helped so many to connect with their favorite music artist but visually through Vevo. Today, Vevo shared the top 10 hip-hop artists, videos, and more.
1. Lil Baby
Lil Baby has had many hits this year which include “The Bigger Picture”, “We Paid”, and “Emotionally Scarred”. In June, he topped Nielson Music/MRC Data’s charts. This was a humongous achievement for the artist for the year 2020.
With 24 out of 50 video premieres, Hip Hop is the majority with over 6.58 billion views. Vevo’s Vice president even mentions the amount of work you have to put in to come out with an amazing piece like Future’s “Life Is Good”.
“This video combined all of the major ingredients of a blockbuster,” Glickson says. “Two superstars – not just in Hip Hop, but across all genres – making a unique and memorable video. However, we’ve seen that what is also helping Hip Hop dominate is the new breed of stars consistently releasing new content.”
Glickson also continued to say, “Instead of releasing one video every 4-6 months, new stars like Lil Baby and Moneybagg Yo are dropping new videos about once a month, combined with Vevo Ctrl performances, audio videos, and additional content,” Glickson explains. “This is keeping them on top of the public consciousness and helping grow their audiences significantly,” he continued.”
3. Post Malone
Vevo made is so fans, like ours here at DirtySouthHipHop, can experience a real-life concert but with being home [during the pandemic] called Ctrl.At.Home. This made fans so much happier and connected them with the artist they enjoy. This idea worked out so well for Vevo.
“Ctrl.At.Home gave us a unique opportunity to collaborate with artists because regardless of where the artists are based, our production team was able to work with them to film a session,” Glickson says. “Since March, we’ve shot with artists in L.A., Atlanta, Miami, even South Africa, but I must say we are excited about re-opening our Brooklyn studio this fall to resume filming Ctrl the way it was initially envisioned.”
4. Travis Scott
Now that most people are using the internet, due to the pandemic, this changes how people view Hip Hop. Many cable companies are struggling; however, Vevo creates a genius way to consume the content.
“Beyond working with artists on Ctrl, we’ve seen viewers watching these performances, and all of our videos, differently,” Glickson explains. “There’s been a huge increase in viewers on Connected TV – watching Vevo on Samsung TV, Pluto Tv, Roku, Amazon, Apple, and more – and watching for longer. Most mobile viewers watch a video or two at a time and TV viewers are watching approximately for 30 minutes.”
And the list goes on…
