Timberland and Swizz Beatz found a unique way to get people entertained during the quarantine when they introduced us to Verzuz. It started out as just friendly competition between Swizz and Tim, but it quickly grew into something much bigger. Before we all knew it some of the best music artists, producers, and songwriters were going up head to head to see who had the most hits.
Teddy Riley and Babyface broke an Instagram live record when they had close to three million people trying to watch them battle. It wasn’t long before Tim, Swizz and the rest of the world realized Verzuz was too big for Instagram.
News broke Tuesday that Apple would now be the exclusive music partner for Verzuz. The Verzuz’s battles will now be shown live on Apple music, as well as Instagram. The previous battle with Fabolous vs Jadakiss was also on Apple music…. maybe that was a trial run. In any event, it is clear that Verzuz is here to stay.
The next battle is slated to be another classic, with DMX facing off against Snoop Dogg on July 22. Shoutout to Timbo and Swizz for creating something dope for the culture.
