Killer Mike Urges People to Stop Destroying Their Community.
The woes for people in the Atlanta community continue as Killer Mike’s popular SWAG Shop has shut down due to property damage from gunfire on Monday (February 22). The store that is currently boarded shut, is located on Rosevelt Highway in South Fulton county.
Michael Render aka Killer Mike does many things for his Atlanta community from fundraisers to food drives and the SWAG Shop is one of his main contributions. The SWAG Shop was originally closed for renovations, however the shop will now remain closed longer to repair the damages from the shooting.
According to WSB-TV 2 witnesses claim there were shots fired outside of the Burn Lounge. No people were harmed but several cars and Mike’s SWAG Shop were caught in the crossfire.
The SWAG Shop is a staple for Mike’s brand and he took to his Instagram following the incident to explain why he was disappointed with the actions leading to the extended closing.
“Please consider what would have happened if one of y’all hit one another. The jail, the lawyer fees, the funeral cost, and two black families’ loss. I’m glad y’all cud not hit the side of a barn with a shotgun cuz this am y’all all are alive,”
Atlanta Troubled by Gun Violence
Killer Mike’s plea is in line with the sentiment shared with many other people in Atlanta’s artist community.
There has been a disturbing trend of gun violence in Atlanta in the past few weeks including a shooting that happened on the set of 42 Dugg and Roddy Ricch’s video shoot Sunday afternoon.
Cyhi the Prince was also involved in a drive-by shooting on Valentine’s Day. After surviving the ordeal that Cyhi described as an attempt on his life, the rapper described his current view of Atlanta:
“I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA, and I have tremendous love for my city … but it’s chaotic out there. I’m trying my best to keep a level head, but when you don’t know who is after you it’s hard to wrap your mind around it and not be paranoid,”
