The Show We Needed?
ABC has a knack for having great shows, and this time they have the perfect celebration to classic 00 ad 90’s hip-hop with the drama Queens.
Queens premiere was 2 days ago on the 19th and a lot of us are already thrilled to see more being legends Brandy and Eve are in it.
The two are playing members of a girl group in the ’90s who later bring the girls back together to kick it after breaking up.
The fictional group name is NastyB*tches, and a group of women who are in their 40’s decides to reunite.
We have Naomi who goes by the stage name Xplicit Lyrics, played by our beloved Brandy.
Eve is playing Brianna who also goes by Professor Se.
That is not all we still got two more girls joining the flamboyant girl group.
We have Naturi Naughton as Valeria who’s stage name is Butter Pecan and Nadine Velazquez as Jill also known as Da Thrill. We will also see Famous In Love’s Pepi Sonuga.
The Intriguing Plot
The four women had it all and were even named one of the greatest girl groups of their time when their song Nasty Girl took the top of the charts.
Unfortunately, jealousy and the personal conflict got the best of the group and they all drifted apart.
As ABC official describes the show:” Queens follows a fractured girl group living in the shadows of their once prominent hip-hop dynasty.”
“After their popularity skyrocketed with the success of their chart-topping single, “Nasty Girl,” they were once regarded as one of the greatest girl groups of their generation.”
“Despite critical and commercial success, the group was plagued by internal conflict and jealousy.”
“Estranged and out of touch, the four women, now in their 40s reunite for a chance to recapture their fame and regain the swagger they had in the ’90s when they were legends in the hip-hop world.”
