From Salt and Pepper to Rico Nasty, the HipHop industry has skyrocketed due to young fresh faces and what they bring to the world’s eyes. The music, art, and fashion of these influencers aren’t shared like they used to be. Thanks to the help of popular social media platforms such as Instagram, Tiktok, SoundCloud, and Snapchat it has mainstreamed into pop culture as well. Here at DSHH, we’re highlighting some of the young HipHop success in our industry today.
19-year-old American rapper and songwriter Lil Mosey rose to fame in 2017 with the release of his single “Pull Up”. His debut studio album Northsbest included his first Billboard Hot 100 charting single, “Noticed”. Lil Mosey is also signed to Interscope Records. One of his most known songs is “Blueberry Faygo” which has popularized from the app Tiktok and obtained a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles.
17-year-old SoundCloud sensation Lil Tecca released a big hit in January of 2020 “Shots”, and last year’s “Ransom” which was SoundCloud’s longest-charting No. 1 single. Last year was also the release of We Love Tecca, which gained a No. 4 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Lil Tecca continues to give us new music such as his new single “All Star” with Lil Tjay. At the young age of 17, Lil Tecca racks up about 13 million Spotify listeners.
From Harrisburg, Pa., 17-year-old Kierra Luv began rapping over popularized beats like “Money” by Cardi B. It wasn’t long when her ability to flow and lyrical powers were recognized by 10k projects, which is home to an artist like Trippie Redd. Songs such as “Can’t Stand It” with Tory Lanez earned her 1.5 million Instagram followers and 86k YouTube followers.
