A grand jury issued the indictment on Oct 15. in U.S. District Court in Massachusetts. Wright and Chicago music promoter Antonio Strong among others are charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and identity theft.

Herbert Wright III, which is G Herbo’s real name, was charged along with Antonio “T-Glo” Strong, Joseph Williams, Stephen Hayes Jr., Demario Sorrells, and Terrence Bender. Each are accused of taking stolen credit card information and using it for private jets and yachts, luxury hotels, exotic car rentals, designer puppies, limousines, commercial airline flights, consumer goods, meals, and security.

According to the indictment, the Chicago rapper and the others flew cross-country on someone else’s dime. A judge labeled Strong the ringleader of the $1.5 million fraud scheme. Strong also faces a wire fraud charge. Co-conspirator Joseph Williams a.k.a. “Joe Rodeo” and “Rockstar Rodie” was another rapper charged in the case.

The indictment pointed out successfully processed transactions. Cardholders who fell victim to the theft would ultimately dispute charges, reversing the transaction, leaving the merchants no choice but to take an ‘L’. Below is a photo posted to G Herbo’s Instagram with the caption “#SELFMADE.”

This scheme allegedly went on for four years. In March 2016, the co-defendants allegedly began the scheme by obtaining stolen credit card information from “dark web sites” and co-conspirators. The indictment also states the co-defendants are accused of using fake IDs, driver’s licenses, and email accounts in the names of monikers and real businesses to trick companies and individuals. Furthermore, victim’s information would be shared via texts, social media messages, emails, and phone calls.

Pet company grew suspicious after designer pup order.

The indictment enumerates multiple occurrences of wire fraud and identity theft. As a case in point, in November 2017, Strong, who labeled himself Wright’s manager, reached out to a pet company and ordered two designer puppies for the “Swervo” rapper with a stolen credit card.

Strong allegedly provided a fake license to the pet company in a screenshot. The company requested that Strong provide a picture of himself holding the license but Strong declined. The pet company grew suspicious and asked Wright to contact them via Instagram message.

Strong messaged Wright, signaling him to message the company, “Check DM. Hurry just message that b#### hello,” the indictment alleged. Following a successful transaction, Bender allegedly used the same card information to schedule a car service for delivery for the puppies.

Wright and Strong also conspired to commit wire fraud in July 2019. Last summer, Wright contacted Strong to request a reservation for a private villa in Jamaica, the indictment attests. Strong allegedly reserved the villa with stolen payment information. Wright and his crew resided in the villa from July 7 to July 11. Outlined in the indictment are several other fraudulent transactions including a Maybach S600 and Bentley CGTC by Sorrells in March 2017.

A few Twitter users were critical when the news hit social media while some were supportive.

“G Herbo has been charged with several offenses in Massachusetts, however, he maintains his innocence and looks forward to establishing his innocence in court.” The statement continues, “Herbo has legal representation in Massachusetts via Prince Lobel, whose team has reached out to the US Attorney’s office in Massachusetts to make arrangements for Herbo’s appearance.
