904 Reebok, PopOutBoyz and Street Bud have already signed to Quavo’s Huncho Records.
Quavo, fresh off releasing a new video with NBA Youngboy, is starting a new record label called Huncho Records. He joins an elite class of rappers who own their own imprint including Kanye West, Gucci Mane, Travis Scott and Drake. “You Can Rap, Produce, Or Be A Athlete. Be All You Can Be!” he told his Instagram followers upon its announcement.
The label has already signed its first batch of artists who look to make their own waves under Quavo’s leadership. The early roster currently has Reebock, and his incredible head of hair, Brooklyn group PopOutBoyz, Quavo look alike YRN Lingo, and the self proclaimed “Hardest Teenager In The World” Street Bud.
Street Bud has already put an album out, Back 2 The Lab, which includes features from Sheck Wes, Quality Control, Lil Donald, DAYYTONA FOX and Doonk.
Quavo and Migos are currently signed to Quality Control, which is owned by Motown, which is owned by Capitol, which is owned by Universal. Huncho Records, and its artists, will likely exist as a subsidiary somewhere in that chain of corporations.
Quavo x Pop Smoke
The new Huncho Records rappers are not the first artists Quavo has mentored early in their careers. He also befriended Pop Smoke early on, before his untimely death. “He was new, but I felt like I was talking to somebody that had been in the game for three years already,” Quavo told The New York Times. “When I see somebody like that, I feel like I need to share my information, you know? So I told Steven (CEO and founder of Pop Smoke’s label), ‘Hey, I’ma big bro him. I’m going to put him down on the dos and don’ts.'”
They even made a song and video before the fatal home invasion that took Pop Smoke’s life in February of this year. Check it out below.
