Prodigy is Honored on Birthday in Hip-Hop

Mobb Deep’s Prodigy is Honored on Birthday

On November 2nd, Prodigy was honored for his birthday in Hip-Hop.  The late Albert Johnson, better known as Prodigy, was a member of the legendary rap duo Mobb Deep alongside Queensbridge emcee Havoc.

In the span of a two decade long run with Mobb Deep, Prodigy had gained the reputation of being one of the most respected lyricists coming from New York in the 90s. Prodigy passed away on June 20, 2017, after having an accident in the hospital while receiving treatment for his Sickle Cell Anemia.

Up to the point of his passing, Prodigy was working with Havoc on releasing new content and touring with the catalog that has granted him immortality in Hip-Hop. With bars that had raw gritty energy, P separated himself from his rivals in the game with a uniquely captivating style.

Prodigy Has a Timeless Collection and Persona

Whether it be his solo career or his campaigns with Mobb Deep, Prodigy has given Hip-Hop some of its most memorable moments on the mic with amazing songs that display lyrical depth and masterful storytelling.

Songs like Shook Ones Part II; Keep It Thoro and Quiet Storm channeled a vibe that embodies a lot of what people enjoyed about listening to music in the 90s and early 2000s.  Prodigy’s consistency in delivering quality music and loving of Hip-Hop as a sacred force are some of the main reasons he is missed today.

In his time or any other, Prodigy is an example of an exceptional artist because he never faked his personality to fit the needs of the media or industry.  Throughout his time with us, even in the face of his health condition with Sickle Cell,  Prodigy showed his fans what it means to give 100% to something you love despite the obstacles.
