“While on my journey I’ve discovered that life is like one huge puzzle with limitless pieces.” – August Alsina
August Alsina announced on Jun. 18th, that he would be dropping his first album in five years titled, The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy.
The album is set to feature artists such as Lil Wayne, Juicy J, and Yo Gotti. It also serves as the third installment in his Product mixtape series, which began in 2012. He’ll reportedly be releasing a new song every day until the album drops on Friday.
“Through the sharing of my own life stories, I hope to show that these things are only experiences and they do not define who we are,” stated Alsina in a post on Instagram.
Along with the announcement of the album, Alsina announced he would be premiering a five-episode docuseries called, “stateofEMERGENcy: The Rise of August Alsina” on Jun. 21st. The docuseries will be aired on Alsina’s YouTube channel.
The docuseries and album will detail his years as a [crack baby], losing both his father and sister by the age of 25, becoming the main caregiver for his three nieces, and battling an autoimmune disease that left him immobile.
“I made a film about ‘life’ and all its journeys. About pain and what a gift and teacher, it has been to me. About how one’s pain and being in a state of emergency causes one to ’emerge’ and ‘see clearly’.”
Unaffected by his sickness, immobility, temporary blindness, and permanent grievances, Alsina’s new album promises to give us what we’ve been waiting for over the past five years.
