NBA players show support for Jacob Blake

NBA supports Jacob Blake

NBA players didn’t waste any time to show their support for 29-year-old Jacob Blake. Sunday evening a story that has become all too familiar to black people, repeated itself. According to multiple news outlets, Blake was breaking up a fight between two women. When authorities arrived they became aggressive with Blake. Jacob broke away for their restraint and was walking back to his car to check on his three sons that were waiting for him. As Jacob opened his car door, the officers immediately fired shots at him. Jacob was struck a total of seven times in his back.

Players speak out

Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell had just come off a great game, scoring 51 points and giving his team a 3-1 lead in the series. He didn’t spend too much time in a celebratory mood. It didn’t take long for him to see the traumatic footage of Jacob being shot. He took to his twitter to express his feelings. Donovan tweeted “F THE GAMES AND PLAYOFFS!!!! THIS IS SICK AND IS A REAL PROBLEM WE DEMAND JUSTICE! ITS CRAZY I DONT HAVE ANY WORDS BUT WTF MAN! THIS IS WHY WE DONT FEEL SAFE!!!”

LeBron James also took to his twitter to tweet his feelings on seeing the videos. “and ya’ll wonder why we say what we say about the police!! Someone, please tell me WTF is this???!!! Exactly another black man being targeted. This shit is so wrong and so sad!! Feel so sorry for him, his family, and OUR PEOPLE!! We want JUSTICE”. The Milwaukee Bucks and Chris Paul also sent out a message of support for Jacob and his family.

Jacob was listed in critical condition. His father updated his Facebook status letting everyone on that as of last night Jacob was in stable condition. We pray that Jacob makes full recovers, and he gets the justice he deserves. We also pray that his sons receive any type of help they may need for witnessing such a traumatic incident.
