Naya Rivera is presumed to have drowned in Lake Piru, located outside of Los Angeles, after an afternoon expedition on a boat with her young son. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department began scanning for a supposed drowning victim after responding to a report of a boy left alone on a boat at around 4:48 pm on Wednesday, July 9, they said in a press release.
Naya was declared missing after her four-year-old son was discovered alone on the pontoon boat they had rented. It was reported that Naya’s son Josey Hollis Dorsey told law enforcement that his mother jumped into the lake but never came back up. Naya Rivera’s Lake Piru disappearance has now been described as a “recovery mission” after it was first labeled a “rescue mission” by Ventura County Sheriff officials. According to reports from TMZ, local authorities made it clear on Thursday morning that the former Glee star is now presumed to be dead.
