Mary J. Blige Shows Out for 50th Birthday

The iconic Mary J. Blige is celebrating a milestone birthday and she is doing it in style!

Let me start off by saying 50 where!?! The R&B songstress whom we love may as well shut the internet down. On Monday, Mary rocked a gold snakeskin halter bikini with platinum blonde braids extending past her curvaceous frame. And might I add, everything is intact…EVERYTHING! The Grammy award-winning artist shunned the net with a tight bod and glistening skin, so its safe for us to assume life is “Just Fine.”

“Tough love is the therapy! #MaryJFly 📸 @robertector,” the singer captioned under her Instagram post and fans were definitely impressed with Mary’s beach glam shoot.

A chat with Taraji ahead of 50th Birthday

Nearly a month before her birthday, Mary opened up about her life journey while having a sit down with Taraji P. Henson on Henson’s Facebook Watch show, “Peace of Mind with Taraji”.

During the show, the “Everything” songbird talked about life as a divorcee and spending the holidays single, ”It gets lonely and it gets sad, but I just gotta thug this out until something excellent comes along, she continued,  “I don’t know when that’s gonna happen. But, I’d rather be myself than to keep making the same mistakes over and over again. I’m going to be patient and sift through this thing and love on me right now.”

And similar to Mary, Henson experienced a break-up with her now ex-fiancé Kelvin Hayden. Taraji expressed much enthusiasm and support as Mary opened up. The two women have had a healthy and supportive friendship for years now.

And it don’t stop, and it don’t quit!

Mary J. Blige is a phenomenal woman and she definitely deserves her flowers. The singer signed with Uptown Records in 1991, launching her career. So far, the “Be Without You” singer has released 13 studio albums, eight of which achieved multi-platinum worldwide sales.

In the U.S. alone, Blige has sold 50 million albums and 80 million worldwide, not to mention the 9 Grammy’s, four American Music Awards, and string of Billboard Music Awards under her belt.

On-stage or on-screen, Mary is with it! Ya digg?

Our beloved Mary is also a beast on the screen. The Queen of Hip-hop soul guest starred in a few 90s shows such as “New York Undercover”, “Moesha”, and “The Jamie Foxx Show” and others. She made her first film debut in “Prison Song” in 2001 and landed impressive movie roles like Florence Jackson in “Mudbound” and Tanya in Tyler Perry’s “I Can Do Bad All By Myself” to name a few.

Currently, the megastar is showing out as Monet Tajada in “Power Book 2: Ghost.” The character Monet Tejada is a straight-face, no-nonsense kind of woman who would draw down on anyone threatening her empire or her family. The new drama we are growing to love just wrapped up its first season and it is confirmed that the show will return for a second season.

Birthday memorabilia! is a website launched on Mary’s birthday dedicated to show love to Mary on her cake day. Notions of love range from heartfelt voicemails recorded by celeb friends and fans to a boot archive of the thigh high boots Mary stunted in over the years. The site also included articles about her impact in the industry.

Mary has aged gracefully over the years and at half a century, the Bronx native has made her mark, filled with many lifetime achievements.
