Ludacris’ Ride Jacked in Atlanta Continuing Trend of Auto-Theft
Disturbing tha Peace OG Ludacris had his Mercedes Benz stolen while stopping at an ATM. Police reported that the engine was still on as the rapper was getting money.
Luda has been in headlines more for ventures like his new show Luda Can’t Cook and his KidNation program, but this latest incident is in line with several others that have happened in Atlanta.
The incident o near 8th and Peachtree Street but the authorities were able to track his belongings down thanks to Luda’s iPad that was inside the car.
The iPad was tracked to a house located in northwest Atlanta on Lois Place. Luda’s iPad, Louis Vuitton Bag, and laptop were inside the house when police investigated further. All items were returned to Ludacris.
Several other items related to another car theft were also found inside the house where Luda’s belonging that police investigated including an iPhone and three Gucci bags.
Luda’s Benz itself was also tracked and returned to him as well. The car was found in the 1200 block of Spring Street at the Spectrum on Spring apartments in midtown.
There has been a running trend of celebrities having their car stolen with the fob inside. Tyreese Gibson’s car was broken into last month in the driveway of his Buckhead home while the fob was inside the cupholder.
Sara Blakely also had her Range Rover stolen right outside of her office only moments after parking. The common thread in Blakely’s car being stolen is that her fob was also in her car.
The Atlanta Police Deputy Cheif Michael O’Connor made a statement following auto-theft stating the importance of securing your vehicle even if leaving for a brief moment.
“It’s imperative that people take their key fob with them when they leave their vehicle,”
According to the Atlanta police, there has been a 40 percent increase in car thefts in 2021. However in most situations that the vehicle was stolen, the engine was still running or the fob was inside the car.
