Killer Mike Sounds Off On Capitol Attack

Run The Jewels Star Calls Out Trump Supporters

Since Wednesday’s (January 6th) attack on the US Capitol building by Donald Trump supporters, there have been many reports on the aftermath.  There have been five deaths and 52 arrests made since the incident and more details continue to come each day.

Several artists like Cardi B and Wale gave their critiques and opinions as the insurrection of the Capitol happened in real-time but Atlanta native and Run the Jewels OG Killer Mike voiced his thoughts at a later time.

During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Killer Mike did not mix words when giving his disapproval of what the Trump supporters did to the Capitol building.

Before hearing about the riots at the Capitol, the RTJ star was celebrating the Democratic victory in Georgia’s Senate race.  Upon hearing the news and seeing the footage of the vandalism and chaos, Killer Mike gave this response:

“I don’t encourage what we saw, and, essentially, it is violence. It is evil. It is I-didn’t-get-my-way-ism. It is the refusal to accept that this republic is run by the power of the vote and people have voted the president out and the President-elect in and we need to accept that.”

Mike also gave his thoughts on the contrast in police presence between when the Trump supporters attacked the Capitol and when members of the Black Lives Matter organization protested saying that there was a “clear difference”.

“The question from me becomes at what point do we have to keep using these stark example versus doing something about it? At one point do we encourage the demilitarization of police, period?”

“Today what happened was B.S. versus what happened over the summer … until we want for others what we want for ourselves, we will repeat the cycle over and over again.”
