Biden Chooses Harris as VP for election
The 2020 presidential election is shaping up to be one of the most important elections in recent years. Today, Joe Biden announced that Kamala Harris will be his pick for vice president.
Kamala’s Background
Kamala is an Oakland, Calfornia native. She graduated from Howard with her bachelor’s degree and earned a Law degree from the University of California. in 2003 Kamala became the district attorney of the city and country of San Francisco, She would go on to serve two terms as a district attorney. She would then go on to be elected as the first African American woman to serve as a California Attorney-general. in 2017 Kamala was sworn in as a United States Senator for California. Kamela also serves on the Homeland security, and governmental Affairs Committee, the select committee on intelligence, the committee on the judiciary, and the committee on the budget.
Kamala’s views on most political issues seem to align with Biden and the rest of the democratic party. After the announcement many prominent Black figures. Former President Barack Obama voiced his approval of Kamala via twitter “I’ve known Senator Harris for a long time. She is more than prepared for the job. She’s spent her career defending our constitution and fighting for folks who need a fair shake. This is a good day for our country. Now let’s go win this thing”.
