Hov creates new stories through new venture.
Jay-Z continues his expansion of the Roc Nation Brand and now has plans to start a new book company. Hov has collaborated with Random House Publishing to form Roc Lit 101 dedicated to pieces of literature.
The initial content for the new company will be provided by the vast roster of Roc Nation artists. Some of the projects include memoirs from Fat Joe, Yo Gotti, and CC Sabathia.
Contributions will also be made by Meek Mill who is planning to write a novel on social and criminal justice. Lil Uzi Vert has also been reported to have a fantasy fiction novel in the works through Roc Lit.
One of the bigger books that will come from Roc Lit 101 will be the story of music journalist Danyel Smith, who plans to release “Shine Bright: A Personal History of Black Women in Pop.” The story will capture the story of black women in music through a memoir she will write.
Roc Nation’s Executive VP Jenna Fleischman, stated the purpose of Roc Lit 101 as a book company:
“The goal of Roc Lit 101 is to provide a creative outlet for acclaimed wordsmiths and artists to share their visions with new audiences, there are so many untold stories and we consider it a true privilege to be able to amplify diverse voices while exploring the uncharted worlds that are about to open to us”
One of Jay-Z’s other venture rooted in educating was in his collaboration with Brooklyn Long Island University for the Roc Nation School of Music, Sport and Entertainment.
Going forward Roc Lit has plans to write more children’s stories, cookbooks, and other memoirs like the ones from Yo Gotti and Danyel Smith. The first set of books under the new company are scheduled to drop next summer.
