On July 20, Pop Smoke would have celebrated his 21st birthday. By now, we all know the Brooklyn rapper was gunned down in a Hollywood home in February. The surveillance video shows four men hopping a gate and going into the house, from that point on a gunfight presumably ensued; which left Pop Smoke with multiple gunshot wounds. Early this month, five men were arrested in connection with Pop’s murder. With the arrest, four of the five men were charged with his murder, and the fifth was charged with attempted murder. So many lives will forever be changed by this home invasion gone wrong. Pop is deceased and five men will probably spend a big chunk of their lives imprisoned.
Pop Smokes debut album was released on July 3. The album debuted at number one in several different countries. The album includes features from the likes of Quavo, Lil Baby, DaBaby, Future, Swae Lee, Roddy Rich, and plenty more. Before his untimely passing, Pop had the respect of a lot of people in the music business. 50 cent saw a bright future ahead for Pop. “When I met Pop Smoke, I told him it was time to do my record [Many Men] over. It is extremely unfortunate that Pop Smoke isn’t here to celebrate the success he was destined for”.
