G Herbo And His Voting Message
As the election is getting closer and closer, artist such as G Herbo is using their music to teach the youth on serious topics. Herbo recently released his new track, “Demands,” that talks about why it is important to vote this upcoming election. The track also talks about the subjects of police brutality and the racism that still exists today.
He partnered up with, “TheBasement Series,” and Audiomack to help make it possible to spread the message. Herbo even headlined for a Twitch event called “TheBasement To The Ballot.” During the virtual event, you could see performances from different artists such as Kalan, and Kaash Paige.
Jason Johnson made a statement about how important it is for our youth to vote because they take up a big portion of voters this year.
“We pride ourselves on helping artists create moments that move their music forward. But in this current climate, it’s all about moving the vote forward,” Jason Johnson, Audiomack’s VP of Marketing & Brand Strategy said to HipHopDX. “We’re excited to partner with TheBasement Series on this initiative to help bring more awareness to this year’s Presidential Election and ensure younger voters have the resources that they need to make their voices heard,” he continued.
Other artists that have influenced the Youth
Herbo is not the only artist spreading awareness about voting, Tyler The Creator had something to say about it too on his social media.
“Look, I know I’m the last person y’all should ever take advice from, but I’m reiterating what everyone else is saying,” he wrote. “Please, please, if you are young and your f*cking back don’t hurt, go to them polls and cast a f*cking vote. I didn’t give a f*ck about none of this sh*t just like a lot of y’all. This is actually going to be my first time voting. I see the light,” he continued.
