Dre is Back Home Working
Good news came over the weekend as Compton native Dr. Dre was released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center following his brain aneurysm. He will be constantly under medical supervision as doctors continue to look for what cause the aneurysm.
On Saturday (January 16) producer Dem Jointz posted a picture of him Dre, The D.O.C, and several other producers working in a studio.
Fans were definitely happy to see Dre back in his element, but the caption “ And We Back!!..#Detox21” caught fans attention more than anything.
The caption from Dem Jointz was intriguing for fans because Dr. Dre’s Detox was supposedly a scraped project after the release of his 2015 album Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre.
Detox was originally announced back in 2002 but was delayed by Dre while he was producing albums for 50 Cent, Eminem, and The Game.
Konvict Music singer Akon was interviewing VladTV back in August of 2020 where he described Dre as someone with a standard so high, which led to Detox never seeing the light of day.
Akon also explained what he believed Dr.Dre’s influence on music means to fans of the culture even with Detox taking an extended time to come out. :
“I don’t think [Dre] understands his power sometimes, I don’t think that — I think he’s gonna win no matter what because he’s Dre! Just drop that bitch! Like he got bangers though. I know for a fact I did a couple of bangers that the world probably will never hear.”
”But man, from what I did hear when we were working together and I was submitting records for ’em, man, they got so much heat. But he’s just a perfectionist — too perfect.”
Following this latest complication with his health and the post from Dem Jointz about Detox, Dr. Dre seems to be closer to finally putting the project on wax.
Working in the studio is a welcome change of pace for Dre after being in ICU and giving his wife Nicole Young a $2 million settlement.
