City Girls Big Break
There is no denying, Drake’s “In My Feelings,” was the hit of 2018. And the City Girls definitely helped make it memorable.
This was the big break.
Their iconic verses took off their career:
“Two bad bitches and we kissin’ in the Wraith” and “I need that black card and the code to the safe.” and “I show him how that neck work/Fuck that Netflix and chill—what’s your net-net-net worth?”
The point where everything changed for the hip-hop duo with that very track. JT and Yung Miami even openly admit that didn’t even know if “In My Feelings” was going to hit the famous Scorpion album.
On the Carlos Watson Show the two talk about the anticipation before getting the call, they were going to be on the album. JT mentions Drake “chopped our ass off,” but Yung Miami and her are incredibly thankful for it.
“It was a big secret we had to hold in for like a month. … We didn’t ever know if the song was to make the album or not,” JT reveals.
“We just knew that he wanted us to be on the song. We both did verses. And they called us back and let us know it was gonna be on the album, but it wasn’t a whole verse.”
JT even jokes about Drake cutting their verses off.
Jokingly imagining what was going on through Drake’s head, “probably was like, ‘Uh-uh, y’all h*es is not ready for full verses yet, but I’mma give y’all a shot.”
