Cardi B did it! The bloody shoes queen has announced her breakout hit “Bodak Yellow” is now certified diamond. The single itself sold over 10 million copies which also makes Cardi B the first female rapper in history to do so!
Cardi B posted a mini reaction video to news
Last night, the Recording Industry Association of America dropped the news of her huge accomplishment, and shortly after Cardi B posted a video of her mini celebration (which is most likely only the start.) In the video posted on Twitter, Cardi found out as a team member pulled a sheet off the record. “It’s diamond? For real?” she asked. “For real?”
Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” has already made it all the way to the top and still continues to find its way back up the charts. The song itself helped land Cardi in first place on the top ten list, which made her the first female rapper to do so since Nicki Minaj’s reign. Cardi B was also at one point the longest-running Billboard No. 1 song by a female rapper. This has recently been beaten by Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts.”
Her latest accomplishment also follow up on her fanbase drama
Fans have been pressuring Cardi B on her timing to finally release new music, so during an Instagram live she confronted her “loyal” fans.
“I have so much pressure. I’m working on a lot of sh– to please people. … I wanna please my fans, because y’all been asking for something from me for a very long time that I can’t say, and I’m doing it for ya,” Cardi says a few days ago on Friday. “‘Eh, you’re dropping a f—ing doll! We want an album!’ How am I supposed to be rich? How am I supposed to build my net worth?”
Instead of the new music fan anticipated to have, she released her own doll.
