Rapper Lul Timm has been charged with murder in the shooting death of King Von.
Police have arrested the suspect who they say is responsible for firing the deadly shots that killed 26-year-old Dayvon Bennett better known as King Von.
Early Friday morning at the Monaco Hookah Lounge, King Von and Quando Rondo’s crews had a deadly altercation that resulted in gunfire.
Though police were nearby and intervened, investigators say police were not responsible for firing the fatal shots during the shooting.
It wouldn’t be long before authorities caught up with 22-year-old Timothy Leeks who is also a rapper who goes by the stage name Lul Timm. Leeks was one of the suspects injured during the shootout. Leeks received treatment at Grady Memorial Hospital. According to a source, the suspect was handcuffed to the hospital bed while there.
Police say three of the victims that were shot died from their injuries while three others were treated at the hospital.
The GBI and Atlanta Homicide detectives are working to determine which individuals were hit by gunfire that the suspects charged and whether any people struck by gunfire were from the officers.
Suspect had previous run-ins with the law before the King Von shooting
Leeks who is a native of Savannah where he already had priors. In August, authorities seized guns and 15 pounds of marijuana from the suspect. Police charged Leeks with conspiracy to violate the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, along with the charges theft by receiving stolen property and obstruction.
Atlanta police consider King Von case closed following Leek’s arrest.
Atlanta police spokeswoman Marla Jean Rooker told AJC, “Mr. Leeks is in police custody at Grady Hospital where he is undergoing treatment for a gunshot wound.” She further explained, “The homicide of Bennett is closed with this arrest.”
APD officer John Chafee said during a press conference, “It’s extremely concerning to us that people would be so brazen and so bold as to commit a crime like this in front of a police officer,” “We believe that he was actually shot and that initial exchange of gunfire between the two groups, and that is what led to police involvement and where police then engage the shooters.”
