Blue Ivy is now narrating Audiobooks in her most recent project! She has narrated the well-known story by Matthew Cherry, called “Hair Love.”
No one heard of the news until recently when the author, Matthew Cherry, made a post on his IG. Along with the post, he also included a small clip of the audiobook. “Our Hair Love audiobook is live. Narrated by Blue Ivy Carter. Link in bio and available everywhere audiobooks are sold.”
About The Audiobook
“Hair Love,” first began in 2019 but it was in the form of a short film. It was such a huge success when it earned an award at the 2020 Academy Awards. In May of this year, the short film was released as a book.
The book/short film is about a nurturing African-American father who takes care of his young daughter’s beautiful, natural kinky curls. The film has a deep message in it, which is to embrace your beautiful natural hair. Just because it isn’t straight doesn’t mean it’s not beautiful.
The author also wanted to let society know that Black men are indeed great fathers and to remove the deadbeat stigma.
“It was important to us to showcase a black father that was young, that had tattoos. I think if you saw someone like him on the street, you would assume that wasn’t a loving father that does his daughter’s hair,” Cherry says. “We’re just trying to change the conversation, one project at a time,” he continued.
