Beyoncé Donates $500,000 to Stop Evictions

BeyGOOD Charity giving money to stop COVID-19 evictions.

Beyoncé is showing her good will this holiday season as her BeyGOOD Charity is giving to families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. 100 families will receive $5,000 each to help protect them from homes evictions.

The initiative was announced on December 22nd by BeyGOOD in a press release. The statement from Beyonce’s charity detailed what they have done to help people in need since the pandemic started:

“When we were faced with the pandemic caused by COVID-19, BeyGOOD created a plan to make a difference. We assisted organizations across the country that were providing people with basic needs like food, water, household supplies, and COVID testing. Beyonce is continuing her heart of support and helping where needed most. Phase Two of the BeyGOOD Impact Fund will now help those impacted by the housing crisis. The housing moratorium is set to end on December 26th, resulting in mortgage foreclosures and rental evictions.“

In addition to giving grants and providing COVID testing for people affected by the pandemic, BeyGOOD also provides mental health assistance for people who may have certain conditions or disorders.

The BeyGOOD Charity has also teamed up with the NAACP to launch the the Small Business Impact Fund to help Black-owned small businesses. The fund has been able to help over 250 small businesses with grants of $10,000 for each.

Her efforts with BeyGOOD also won Beyoncé the Humanitarian Award at the 2020 BET Awards, showing that her efforts in helping during the pandemic is not unnoticed.

Applications for the BeyGOOD grant will be open on January 7th and all applicants will be asked to provide proper documentation to the NAACP upon applying.

People whose applications are chosen will receive their funds from BeyGOOD in January and another round of applicants will also be selected in February.
