Beyoncé and renowned jeweler Lorraine Schwartz are teaming up together to create a new scholarship in hopes of diversifying the jewelry business.
The superstar singer, songwriter, actress, director, humanitarian, and record producer has announced this collab with Lorraine Schwartz, who is also known for her jewelry experience to expand the jewelry-making business.
Many are very eager for this collab after the Beyoncé x Peleton HBCU event.
The brand-new scholarship has been labeled as the Beyoncé Knowles-Carter x Lorraine Schwartz GIA Scholarship and promises to award two scholarships to the Gemological Institute of America’s (GIA) Graduate Gemologist program through distance education.
Besides the fact Beyoncé is giving away 2 scholarships to GIA’s program she is also willing to pay all of the associated expenses that come along with it.
In a short statement, Beyoncé stated:
“It is an honor to have this scholarship in my name, but the best part is teaming up with my friend Lorraine Schwartz to allow two people to learn. We both believe that learning is constant. This is a chance to learn from the best, create generational wealth and turn a love of gems into a career.”
The Scholarship was an Inspiration to the Duo’s Friendship
Many people did not know that the scholarship was inspired by Beyoncé and Lorraine’s long friendship throughout their careers. On Beyoncé’s 39th birthday Lorraine gifted Beyoncé a scholarship to GIA.
GIA finally joined Beyoncé and Lorraine to prepare the funds for a second scholarship opportunity, and from there the Beyoncé Knowles-Carter x Lorraine Schwartz GIA Scholarship was successfully created with the mission to create gem dreams into reality.
With everything happening in perfect timing, Beyoncé promises to stay focus on this scholarship project. She will also be selecting the two winners of the event.
For those who want to apply: applications for the scholarship will be accepted from March 1 at 9:00 am PST to March 16 at 11:59 pm PST.
