Happy Birthday to Beyoncé!!

Today marks the 39th birthday for the Queen Bee, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, and she is celebrating by giving away instead of getting gifts! She started off her birthday by announcing a $1 million donation through her organization BeyGood to an impact fund for Black-owned small businesses.

The announcement came yesterday from Beygood, the artist’s impact fund for Black-owned small businesses in partnership with the NAACP. Some applicants have already received funding from the organization, but there are additional funds being raised for a second round of funding. Beyonce has previously donated $6 million to mental health charities and other initiatives centered around the COVID-19 pandemic which has harshly affected the black community.

“Communities of color are suffering by epic proportions due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Beyoncé said in a statement. “Many families live in underserved areas in homes that make it harder to practice social distancing. Communities that were already lacking funds for education, health, and housing are now faced with alarming infection and fatalities. And these communities lack access to testing and equitable healthcare.”

Beyoncé takes over Hampton studio for a new project

On the brink of her birthday, it was reported that Beyoncé took over a tv studio in the Hamptons for a “top-secret” shoot. According to a few gossip columns, it was reported Bey ” forced officials at the location to cancel bookings from others who were scheduled to film there”. We don’t know how true this is, but it’s nothing new for her to keep us guessing on what she has coming up next. The Houston native has continued to surprise us over the past few months.

Last month, Beyoncé dropped her visual project on Disney titled Black Is King. The visual was produced over the course of a year across three continents. Of course, it didn’t come without an “army” by her side. She had high-profile African and American musicians, top fashion designers and video directors, and members of her immediate family, including a supporting role from her daughter Blue Ivy.
