Shelah Marie Gives Ace Plaques for Independent Records
Christmas is a time to show our appreciation. Ace Hood’s wife Shelah Marie gave him a great gift for an independent artist. Ace received two plaques from Shelah commemorating his two independent albums Trust the Process and Trust the Process II: Undefeated.
Trust the Process, which dropped in August of 2017, was able to generate over 100 million streams. Trust the Process II dropped in May of 2018 and was streamed over 78 million times.
As he got his plaques, Ace could not help but shed some tears of joy over the gift from Shelah. She was able to capture the moment of Ace unwrapping his gift and post the reaction on her Instagram.
“When @acehood was last on a major recording label they were excellent about celebrating wins, Ace has so many plaques in the house from that era. Since Ace went independent, he hasn’t received any plaques for his projects. Ace is too damn talented not to have his flowers while he can smell them.”
Ace Hood began his career in music after being signed by DJ Khaled on We The Best Music and Universal Music Group in 2008. With them, he dropped his debut album Gutta. He continued his career signed to a major label until 2016 where he began his career as an independent artist.
As an indie artist, Ace has released several projects through Empire Records including Starvation 5, Body Bag 4, and 5. Back in May, he released his fifth studio album titled Mr.Hood via Empire and his own Hood Nation.
While his success may not be acknowledged as often as it should, Shelah made sure that her husband was acknowledged for his hard work and consistency. The last lines of her Instagram post-capture her feelings for Ace in the best light:
“In this house, we don’t wait on validation we want — we give it ourselves. I love you @acehood”
