Aaliyah’s Music Soon To Be Released On Streaming Platforms

Miss You; Remembering the One in A Million superstar

Today, August 25, marks the 19th anniversary passing of Aaliyah.  Born January 16, 1979, Aaliyah was one of R&Bs biggest icons of the 90s gaining her stardom in her teens. By age 22 she had released all three of her albums which went double platinum. Giving the music scene hit after hit, her tunes illuminated the world with futuristic beats and edgy, mature vocals. She worked with some of the hottest producers in the game, including Missy Elliot & Timbaland. Her talents were bound to top the charts. She was also gaining recognition as an actress, starring in two highly recommended films, Romeo Must Die and Queen of The Damned. Her blossoming career ended in a tragic plane crash. Her tracks however remain timeless and continue to keep her light shining bright. This only leaves us to wonder about Aaliyah’s music to soon be released.

Finally! Aaliyah’s estates possibly adding her music to streaming services

Aaliyah has remained one of many high profile artists with little content on iTunes or Spotify. Thousands of fans are demanding the release of the star’s discography. The debut album, “Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number,” and a handful of singles are the only songs allowed on streaming services as of yet. A majority of her music has not been added to streaming services for legal reseasons.

Today the long-awaited news arrived in her memorial — the Aaliyah Estate commented on Twitter that it has initiated  communication with “various record labels” in regards to  the status of the singer’s catalog, mentioning  “its availability on streaming platforms in the near future.” No dates have been confirmed at this time. Until then we can continue to wait on Aaliyah’s music soon being released. We may even see a release of her music to our very own DSHH streaming platform. Stay tuned. The catalog is currently under review of her uncle and founder of Blackground Records, Barry Hankerson.
