Indie Comedians Breaking Records
This week has been a great one for the comedians of the 85 South Show as their Youtube channel hit 300 million views. This milestone is important to note because the 85 South Show is the first entirely independent comedian group to reach the achievement.
The statistic was tweeted out by the show’s cast (DC YoungFly, Karlous Miller, and Chico Bean) from the 85 South account thanking fans for their support. Given all three comics started their journey with very humble beginnings, their success today is proof that success can be obtained in many different ways

Success Well Deserved for 85 South Show
When looking at the 85 South Show it is easy to see how they have been able to obtain their success since their 2015 start due to the range of guests and topics on their podcast. With talents like Killer Mike, Busta Rhymes, and Iman Shumpert coming through, the respect and admiration for the comedy trio is evident.
Along with the podcast gaining buzz, the group also landed a major hosting gig in 2020 for the BET Hip-Hop Awards. As a collective, The 85 South Show has had a significant influence on comedy since they began due to their independence.
Creatives and entertainers of all walks have immense respect for the hustle of 85 South, understanding that it is difficult to maintain traction in the internet era of media production. Their originality and work ethic has already paid dividends and the 300 million view milestone adds to their impressive resume as a whole.
85 South Show Still Looking to Grow
In a year that saw the 85 South crew have a few setbacks like being affected by the cancelation of Wild’n Out, they were still able to grow in a very special way in 2020. In an interview with The Breakfast Club following the cancellation, the team expressed their goal going forward is to build another platform of longevity for comedy.
