Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s Verzuz started off in April and have since given some of the hottest battles with matchups like Erykah Badu and Jill Scott, Teddy Riley, and Babyface and DMX and Snoop Dogg. As the Platform increases in popularity, so does the buzz around it, and everyone has their opinion on who they would like to see battle next.
The official Verzuz Instagram account announced on Tuesday (July 28)the next battle: Rick Ross versus 2 Chainz.
The South Has Saying Something
Chainz’s catalog spans back to 2004 when he appeared on the Notorious 20 single “Fightin’ In The Club” alongside Chingy and Lil Fate. His first mixtape, Me Against The World, came in 2007 and led him to Def Jam Recordings, where he released his debut studio album ‘Based on a T.R.U. The story’ in 2012. He’s dropped five additional studio albums since then. 2 Chainz has appeared on various tracks with virtually every big name in the rap industry, ensuring millions of sales.
2 Chainz has been open to all challengers. Originally, He wanted to challenge Meek Mill but Meek respectfully declined. 2 Chainz also challenged Tip, Gucci Mane, Jeezy, T.I., and former D.T.P. boss, Ludacris, to a Verzuz battle.
Ross started in 2006 when he released the “Hustlin’” single. The achievement of the song resulted in a bidding war between Diddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment and Irv Gotti’s Murder Inc. imprints.Ross eventually ended up accepting a multimillion-dollar deal with Def Jam instead. His 2006 Album Port of Miami premiered at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, as did his sophomore accomplishment Trilla, which came in 2008. Ross has ten solo albums and, like Chainz, a plethora of collaborations. Fans can watch the battle on the Verzuz IG account or Apple Music. The competition is scheduled to take place on Aug. 6.

Timbaland is already asking viewers who should battle it out next. “What’s the next @verzuzonline ?!” he wrote on Twitter Monday (July 27).
Many highly eager artists responded to the call, including Missy Elliott, who taunted her frequent colleague by suggesting a battle with herself. “Missy Vs Misdemeanor, I’m just playing,” she answered with laughing emojis about her famous nickname. She did approve a fan’s Verzuz battle recommendation with female R&B groups SWV and Xscape by commenting, “Both these groups fire” with the flaming emojis.
Juicy J stepped up to the plate and named his chosen opponent. “Juicy j vs. Nas,” he replied today while Re-Tweeting Timbaland’s initial question. The Memphis-based rapper-producer implied others feel “scared to battle me when I pull out that three-six catalog it’s a wrap no cappuccino.”
